The moment you realize the one you've been waiting for is you.

I spent so many years waiting for someone to save me. I desperately searched for someone who would finally see me, love me, and stay. I kept thinking the next relationship, the next mentor, or the next chapter would be the one to make it all make sense. I remember crying out to the Universe, “MAKE IT ALL MAKE SENSE! PLEASE?!”

But it never came.

It wasn’t because Spirit/Source/The Universe wasn’t listening, it was because the real rescue wasn't waiting out there - it was waiting inside ME.

A year ago, I began the move from Florida back to Kentucky after a major breakup of a three year relationship. I remember going back to our shared little cottage near the ocean on my fall break to pack up what was left. Boxes were stacked everywhere, the air heavy with tension and everything both said and unsaid. Of course, I was at the house by myself, packing and moving. I happened to catch my reflection in my favorite standing mirror - a gift from my grandma… and paused. I had tired eyes and messy hair. I was out of breath, sweat running down my back. It was the kind of face that had weathered too much and still refused to break.

I stared at her for a long time.

And then the Universe dropped something right down into my heart. I realized: I was looking at the one person who had never actually left me.

That's when the story turns.

From that day on, something shifted. I stopped waiting. In the months that followed, the Universe provided a person who would guide me through deep healing work and I learned to stop searching for someone who would finally make me feel safe. I became my own safety! I became the love that I wanted and needed instead of going from relationship to relationship trying desperately to find it. I started trusting my timing, my instincts, and my "no." And I began to believe that peace, ease, and flow were possible—not someday, but now.

Maybe that's what this mirror moment is asking of you, too.

Where are you still waiting to be chosen?

What would happen if you chose yourself today?

Choosing to make myself happy was actually really fun. I decided to do things for myself - I took myself on dates to movies I wanted to see, restaurants I loved eating at, and bought myself books…then buried my nose in them (because I really love me a good Romantasy!) I started to dance in my living room in my sock feet. I began to jump and twirl in my grass in my bare feet. I visited creeks. I watched showboats go down the Ohio River while sitting in a Cincinnati downtown park by the river. I put myself first. And it made me joyously, giddy and happy way down deep.

So I started exploring my Daily Joy Practice. How could I overflow this concept and feeling into other women’s lives? Then, the answer dropped down, just as easily as if you and I were sitting at a table drinking a tea or coffee.

It’s called the Daily Joy: 200 ways to find joy in 5 minutes or less - and it’s been UPDATED!

Close your eyes and think of the part of you that has been with you through everything—every breakup, every move, every hard season. Now create a visual representation of her. She can be abstract, symbolic, or realistic. What does she look like? What is she holding?

That woman in the mirror is still here. She’s full of joy, ease, and peace. And she's not waiting anymore for validation, to be chosen, or for someone or something else to make her happy. Neither should you, sister!

I. LOVE. YOU. BIG!!
